It strained credulity for me that a music professor could get away with such overt, public emotional and physical abuse for years. JK Simmons plays a compelling antagonist, which is what drew me in, but the same can’t be said of the protagonist, who was an obnoxious deterrent. By the end, I felt miserable and apathetic to what was going on.
