Summer of 84 has all of the tropes you would expect from a generic 80s movie about teen kids solving a mystery while being unaware they’re in a horror story. This cliché storm is not a charming trait. It’s tiresome, and has this almost imperceptible insincerity overshadowing it. Very little progression happens over the majority of the movie, which demands a compellingly shocking third act that never comes.
